Antiques Day 2018

Full Program for Antiques Valuation Day - Sunday, 25 November 2018 - 10am to 4pm

Antiques Day 2018

                 In The Hall

Valuation
The focal point of Antiques Valuation Day is having your antiques and treasures valued by our expert valuers! When you arrive, you will be directed to one of three valuers to have based on the type of items you have. In Antiques Roadshow style, the valuers will make presentations to the room about items of interest, with a camera standing by to zoom up close to the items for all to see.

Read more about our valuers - Alan Landis, Jolyon Warwick James and Karen Deakin - by clicking here.

Lindfield Bookshop
A large range of books will be available for purchase at a Lindfield Bookshop stand.

Food & Drinks
There will be a kosher coffee cart and food for purchase from a local Kosher catering. We are still finalising the details - check back soon once they are announced!

                 In The Shule

Presentation about the Synagogue
One of our experienced volunteer tour guides will give two sessions on the history of the Synagogue, just like the public tours that we run each week. There will be one session in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Film Screening
An exclusive, rare showing of the SBS documentary "Old Songs in a New Land", produced by our member Judy Menczel. "Old Songs in a New Land" was made in the late 1980s as part of SBS's Australian Mosaic series. It focuses on the history of Jews in Australia and features Rabbi Apple, Susan Rutland and The Great Synagogue of the time.

Historical Talk
David Lewis will give a fascinating talk on his family's six-generation association with The Great (and its forerunners).

                 In The Museum

Exhibition: FIRST 140 YEARS - The Great Synagogue in Sydney 1878-2018
Jana Vytrhlik, curator of the exhibition, will run informal tours in the AM Rosenblum Jewish Museum.
