Adult Bat Mitzvah program
Did you miss out on having a Bat Mitzvah at 12? It's not too late!
Our 2026 ‘Embracing Bat Mitzvah: Sisterhood and Tradition’ program is open for expressions of interest for women over the age of twenty who have not yet had a Bat Mitzvah.
Join us for a twelve week program filled with learning, spirituality and connection, where friendships will be formed, fun will be had, and stimulating conversations are the essence. This will culminate in a group Bat Mitzvah on 17 May 2026.
Since launching the program several years ago, we’ve had over thirty women aged from 19 to 99 years old complete their Bat Mitzvah with The Great Synagogue.
The twelve week program has been custom created and designed for an adult audience and will include a range of inspiring and experienced teachers. This interactive Bat Mitzvah program will include everything from spirituality, Jewish history, your names and their meanings, mitzvot for women, and beyond.
Whether you’re joining to experience the milestone Bat Mitzvah moment, looking to enhance your connection to Judaism or just wanting to connect with a group of like minded women, expressions of interest are now open!

Start Date: 8 February 2026
Members Cost: $250 for education, classes and an additional small contribution towards the Kiddush costs on the day.
Non-members Cost: $500 for education, classes and an additional small contribution towards the Kiddush costs on the day. Please note this fee includes a year’s membership of the Great Synagogue at a special reduced rate for 2026.
Requirements
● You must be halachically Jewish at the commencement date of education (8 February 2026 )
● Attend weekly education sessions over a twelve week period (Sunday mornings from 9:30am-11am)
● Attend one Shabbat morning service and one Friday night Shabbat service at the Great Synagogue.
● Be available to participate in the Bat Mitzvah ceremony (17 May 2026)
