This service will be unique in the history of The Great Synagogue. Each year we mark the beginning of the Law Term and will do so again on this occasion, in the presence of the Chief Justice of New South Wales, the Judiciary and legal profession.
In addition, we will be delighted to welcome the Governor-General and the Chief Rabbi of the Commonwealth who are joining us to rededicate our Sanctuary after significant restoration and enhancement. This is a rare honour for the Jewish and wider community of Sydney, New South Wales and Australia. The Chief Rabbi was last in Sydney in 2014 and a serving Governor-General visited The Great Synagogue most recently in 2015.
The service on 10 March will combine both aspects and we hope very much to welcome you on this occasion. We invite you to share this event with friends or colleagues who may also wish to attend. The main guest entrance is located at 187A Elizabeth Street.
Lawyers taking part in the procession should enter via 166 Castlereagh Street by 5:00 PM, as the procession will begin promptly at 5:30 PM.
Robe drop-off will be available at the Castlereagh Street entrance (166 Castlereagh Street).
