Bar & Bat Mitzvahs
A Bar or Bat Mitzvah at The Great is a memorable occasion. We can recommend excellent teachers for boys to learn their leining.
Our Rabbi invites every Bar and Bat Mitzvah family to his home for a Shabbat meal, and meets with them to build a relationship at this special time.
At a Bar Mitzvah, a boy will read as much of the Torah and the Haftarah as he is comfortable with, and his male relatives and friends will be given honours during the service. At a Bat Mitzvah, a girl can address the congregation before Adom Olam, before receiving a blessing from the Rabbi while her female relatives open the Ark. Her male relatives and friends will also receive honours during the service. The Rabbi will give a sermon with special attention to the Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
The Rabbi is always happy to make special arrangements to suit particular needs and circumstances.
