Bar & Bat Mitzvah Learning Program

The next term of The Great Synagogue's Bar & Bat Mitzvah learning program begins early in 2022, created and facilitated by our Rabbis - Rabbi Benjamin Elton and Rabbi Phil Kaplan.

Running on eleven Sunday mornings throughout the year, once a month, our family program will meaningfully engage kids along with parents, grandparents or guardians on a wide variety of major Jewish topics, values and practices to enhance their experience of becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.

Each session will focus in depth on one topic, including such topics as Shabbat, Justice, giving back to the community, and Israel. In addition to the Rabbis, guest speakers who work in fields relevant to the topic being explored will be brought in to present.

Our program is open to families regardless of where the Bar or Bat Mitzvah will be held, though we encourage you to have the special day here. Participation in the family learning program will deepen your child’s and your own connection to The Great, and make the Bar or Bat Mitzvah that much more meaningful.

Specific preparation for the Shabbat of your child’s Bar or Bat Mitzvah is outside the scope of this program. Our office would be pleased to assist in connecting you with suitable teachers.

Please contact our office for more information, or click here if you're ready to enrol!
