The Great Synagogue, as part of the ‘Women of Worth’ Weekend, is offering 12 women the opportunity to mark the very significant event of becoming Bat Mitzvah, in a special women's Mincha run by the Sydney Women's Tefilah Group to be held on the WOW Shabbat
4-6pm - 6th July 2019
We’ll be giving 12 adult women over the age of 12 the opportunity to take part in the service to celebrate their connection with Judaism.

Roles on the day…
12 honours for 12 women over 12 years old
At the women’s mincha there are twelve honours. These will be allocated at the session:
- Aliyah #1 – call up to the Bimah, read a short text before the Torah reading
- Explanation #1 of the aliyah
- Aliyah #2 – call up to the Bimah, read a short text before the Torah reading
- Explanation #2 of the aliyah
- Aliyah #3 – call up to the Bimah, read a short text before the Torah reading
- Explanation #3 of the aliyah
- Open the ark for the removal of the Torah
- Close the ark for the removal of the Torah
- Open the ark for the return of the Torah
- Close the ark for the return of the Torah
- Hagbaah – raising the Torah
- Gelilah – dressing the Torah

For those wishing to take their studies further the Matan Program is a 10-session 2-hour course that will be run to everyone’s convenience on Sundays or a weeknight, once or twice a month in a private home.
